Asking the tough questions on Islam

US online magazine Investor’s Business Daily asking tough questions

I guess we kind of know the answer to these questions, but as Michelle Malkin (hattip) puts it: CAIR, care to answer?

“Generally speaking, those questions focus on whether the Quran does indeed promote violence against non-Muslims, and how many of the terrorists' ideas — about the violent jihad, the self-immolation, the kidnappings, even the beheadings — come right out of the text? But even more specifically:
Is Islam the only religion with a doctrine, theology and legal system that mandates warfare against unbelievers?

Is it true that 26 chapters of the Quran deal with jihad, a fight able-bodied believers are obligated to join (Surah 2:216), and that the text orders Muslims to "instill terror into the hearts of the unbeliever" and to "smite above their necks" (8:12)?

No the Quran (gen. Koran) is not the only Holy Book which advocates violence in certain situations. However it's questionable whether Islam is even a religion; whether instead it isn't an 'engine of war' like Naziism, fascism, Communism, and whether in fact the Koran is not actually a manual for war like "Mein Kamf". But other religions have gone through an 'enlightenment' where the excesses which in some instances had become institutionalized (often malicious and spiteful interpretations of individual clerics), were cut from Church practice and tolerance and forgiveness, looking beyond the harm became important. The Inquisitions and excesses of the Church had passed and the separation of Church and State was complete, to the everlasting betterment of the State.

Even if the various holy books didn't preach any violence at all, the claim that religion should be above the civil society would call for resistance.

So yes, I agree, - and furthermore, Islam really is an exception in history.

Dali Lama once stated that the core of all religions contain love and forgiveness; of course Islam has the same core, but that core is not pure. It is infected ith violence from the very beginning.

And funny indeed: when more bright Muslims defend (or hope for) the mercyfull love of Islam, they actually speek of Christianity.

I'm looking foreward to reading CAIR's answers - if any!

I particularly liked the question whether Islam is the only religion not to apply the Golden Rule, referring e.g. to Sura 48, 29

Thank you!

> Dali Lama once stated that the core of all religions contain love and forgiveness;

Dali Lama is a religious leader, which explains why he would tout such utter tripe.

Religions are initially founded in small communities/villages/sects, which mean they speak of love - within the tribe. "Love thy neighbour, kill the Infidels".

Calling forgiveness a core value is ridiculous. You might find examples of forgiveness in the Old Testament, but they pale when hold up against

"[..] I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;" (Ex. 20:5)

and

"A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD." (Deut. 23:2)

The New Testament is even worse. try reading St. John's Revelation for a tour de force of spite and hatred. Or to quote the Prince of Peace Himself:

"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men." (Matt. 12;31)

In fact the whole premise of Christianity is that the reason we are all going to die - and a very large proportion are going to burn - is that a man and a women ate a lousy apple 6.000 years ago.
