Abbas first rejects program, then Abbas / Hamas discord report denied

From al-Jazeera Web via Gaza Times: Sunday 12 March 2006, 23:09 Makka Time, 20:09 GMT

"A Palestinian official said the Palestinian president has rejected Hamas' proposed government programme for failing to meet his and the international community's demands on relations with Israel, but Hamas and sources close to Mahmoud Abbas have dismissed the claim." Continue on al-Jazeera

The ink wasn't dry before Hamas denied any discord.

Sami Abu Zuhra, a Hamas spokesman in the Palestinian territories, and Nabil Abu Rudeina, Abbas' spokesman, both denied the claim.

They even stated that Hamas never issued an official programme. But immediately the discord was confirmed by a senior Palestinian official, according to al-Jazeera.

"[Abbas] rejected the Hamas government programme ... because the principal political points in it have to be clear for the international community"
